Mathieu Labaki Winemaker and Pepe Charlot Cheese Maker are impatient to welcome their guests
12 Participants from Ekima Afrika Travel and VillaOCap all had a great time this week tasting various Cheeses such as chevre frais, buchette et buche affinee, Tomme nature et Tomme au Cumin from PEPE CHARLOT paired with 4 white wines and one Red wine carefully selected by Mathieu Labaki from CAPETERROIR.
After a brief overview and background history by both co-organizers Cape Terroir and Pepe Charlot participants were invited to taste one chosen cheese paired with a specific wine. They had to first taste the wine, then the cheese, then both together and to share their impressions regarding flavor and aroma as well as pairing qualities of the cheese and the wine chosen.
At the end guests were given the opportunity to purchase both cheese and wine in order to continue the experience with their family and friends once back home.
Cape Terroir and Pepe Charlot plan to hold such Pairing once a week in Capetown but will also offer the experience outside of Town on request. They believe this could be a great experience for small groups of 12 to 24 people, wanting to learn more about cheese and wine such as groups of friends, book clubs, or for Companies as a Team building exercise. The Cost will vary from R270 to R190 per person depending on the number of participants
